Hunan: Highway Maintenance Skills Competition held in Chaling

On October 15th, on the G106 urban management road in Chaling County, machines roared and a beautiful orange "scenic line" stood out. The Hunan Province Highway Maintenance Skills Competition is held here, with over 42 highway maintenance participants from 14 cities and prefectures across the province competing together to showcase their maintenance skills.

Zhong Xiaomi, Vice Chairman of the Hunan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, Zhao Ping, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Transportation, He Jianbo, Deputy Mayor of Zhuzhou City, Peng Xinjun, Secretary of the Chaling County Committee, and leaders from relevant units such as the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security and the Provincial Highway Management Bureau attended the opening ceremony and observed the competition on site.

The provincial highway maintenance skills competition is divided into three parts: cement pavement joint cleaning, loader designated operation, and asphalt pavement repair. Participating units compete in highway maintenance quality and speed on the same site, within the specified time and standard range. At the cement pavement joint cleaning and maintenance competition site, participants followed the six processes of "cutting, hooking, brushing, blowing, pouring, and repairing" on the cement pavement, which took short time and had high work quality. The grouting site was busy but not chaotic. The contestants drove and operated the loader, and quickly used the wire on the bucket to thread the screw cap on the 5-meter-high platform, demonstrating their superb skills.

The contestants stated that this competition provides an ideal platform for technical exchange among highway maintenance workers. Through this competition, they have learned a lot of valuable work experience and maintenance skills. In future maintenance work, more attention will be paid to the learning of maintenance knowledge, the operation level of maintenance machinery, and the application of advanced maintenance technologies, in order to comprehensively improve the quality and level of maintenance.

After a day of intense competition, Yiyang City won one place in the designated loader operation competition, while Zhuzhou City won two championships in cement pavement joint cleaning and asphalt pavement pit repair. Huaihua Highway Bureau, Yueyang Highway Bureau, and Yiyang Highway Bureau all won the first prize in the group total score.
